Thanksgiving-themed Art Event with Special Needs Children

(22/11/2025)

On November 22, 2025, our Heartik Portledge Branch hosted a warm and joyful Thanksgiving-themed creative arts event at the Great Neck House. Students and volunteers spent the afternoon exploring hands-on projects that encouraged imagination, sensory engagement, and the spirit of gratitude.

The children took part in three meaningful seasonal crafts that allowed them to fully express their creativity. For the Thanksgiving Turkey Handprints, they used washable paint to trace and decorate their palms, transforming simple handprints into colorful turkey-themed artwork. During the Leaf Collage Art, kids explored the textures of autumn leaves and feathers, arranging them freely and experimenting with layering, shapes, and patterns to create unique seasonal pieces. For Pumpkin Decorating, each child received a small pumpkin and a variety of markers, drawing festive images, characters, or imaginative designs—resulting in fun, expressive artworks that reflected their personalities. Throughout each activity, the children engaged with different materials, asked questions, shared ideas, and expressed themselves in joyful and authentic ways.

We are deeply grateful to all students, volunteers, and parents whose kindness and support made this event possible. Thank you for helping us create an inclusive, caring, and joyful environment for our special needs children. We look forward to continuing this spirit of creativity and community in future events.
