On Saturday, July 5, the HEARTIK GREAT NECK BASKETBALL volunteer group hosted a basketball volunteer event at Wycham Park, specifically designed to provide children with autism and special needs with a basketball experience. The volunteers began by teaching basketball fundamentals, guiding the children through basic skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. They then introduced simple tactical plays and concluded the session with a lighthearted on-court game, allowing the children to apply what they had learned in a real-game setting. The event, held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., created a safe, inclusive, and encouraging sports environment for the children.
Through this event, the volunteers not only helped the children improve their athletic skills and physical coordination but also provided them with valuable opportunities for social interaction, boosting their self-confidence and sense of teamwork. It was a truly meaningful experience that allowed all participants to feel the joy and power of sports.
